My Story
This is a website dedicated to providing the information you need to get the body that you want. It’s an extension of what I do on a daily basis: help people–from business men with crazy work schedules to moms with three kids–get the body they are looking for.
My Background
Born and raised in New Jersey, I went to the University of Maryland and graduated with a degree in History. I ended up in the IT field for about four years. Sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day– beyond being exceedingly boring– ruined my health to such a degree that pain ruled my life for over three years.
I could barely stand for more than two minutes without throbbing pain in my feet. I often experienced debilitating back and neck spasms. I had hips so tight that I couldn’t sit cross-legged without feeling like my knees ligaments were about to tear. I gained body fat.
Fortunately, I stumbled upon a book called Core Performance written by Mark Verstegen of Athletes’ Performance. I happened to open up to the page where he writes about the importance of hip mobility. I knew I had tight hips, so I bought the book, started doing the workouts (not very well, I might add) and within a few weeks I had eliminated the majority of the physical pain from my life.
A New Me
Since fixing my body, I’ve been devouring anatomy, physiology and training texts and dedicated myself to improving the lives of others.
My education has shaped a simple philosophy: Strength and mobility is the foundation for all bodily change. As long as you train your body to be strong and mobile, you can achieve anything. Some methods of training are clearly better than others and I try to provide the knowledge you need to make your own decisions as to what will work best for you.
I can’t lie to you and say that getting stronger, more mobile, and improving your life is easy. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. A big part of that dedication is reading and learning how your body works. Not only that, but you have to be able to place all this health related information into context and separate the fact from fiction.
Then you have to act. Don’t worry about knowing everything before you get going. As long as you understand the fundamentals of training and nutrition, you can learn the rest as you go along.
It is said that a little knowledge goes a long way but a lot of knowledge goes a really long way. I encourage you to spend a little time each day or each week learning about proper training and nutrition. This small investment of time can truly be life-changing.
Whether your goal is to eliminate everyday aches and pains, improve your appearance, get stronger, or lose weight, you can find information on this site to help you do that.
It’s Good to be Well-Rounded
My other interests include U.S. sociological and cultural history, Latin American music and culture, history, religion, neuroscience, psychology, sociology, anthropology (anything science related, really) football, basketball, movies and reading multiple blogs, books, and magazines at the same time.
